How Can You Look After Your Health While You’re At Work?

You know how important it is to take care of your health, but if you spend a lot of time at work, are you doing everything you can? Prioritizing your health in the workplace not only makes sure you’re happy and healthy, but it will help with your productivity too. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the ways you can make being at work more healthy.

Think about ergonomics

If you have an office job, you probably sit for long periods of time, which can lead to back pain or even neck strain. To avoid this from happening, take the time to create a setup that’s comfortable and more natural for you. You can do this in many ways:

  • Adjust your monitor to eye level
  • Make sure your chair supports your lower back
  • Use cushions and gel pads to support your wrists
  • Consider having a standing desk option so you’re not always sat down

You’ll soon see and feel the difference!

Pre pack your lunch

When you’re busy at work, it’s easy to nip to the shop on your lunch break and enjoy fast food. However, this isn’t going to do you any favors. Aside from the obvious chance of weight gain, you need to be fueling your mind to make sure you’ve got the energy and concentration needed for work. Make some time each evening to pre pack your lunch for the next day. Not only does this help make sure you’re eating healthy and nutritious lunches, but it will save you money in the long run too! You could also consider keeping healthy snacks in your desk to avoid the temptation while you’re in the office.

Protect your hearing

If you work in an environment that’s noisy, your hearing could be at risk. Even if you work in an office which tends to be a quieter environment, constant phones ringing or typing could impact your hearing over time. You can use earplugs to protect your hearing, and it’s also a good idea to have your hearing tested. Even if your hearing has been affected, the sooner you get it checked out, the sooner you can look into solutions. If you do decide to have your hearing checked, consider understanding hearing test details so that you can prepare for the assessment.

Stay active

You know how important it is to stay active, but if you work in an office and find yourself sitting still for long periods of time, this can quickly become an issue. Make an effort to go for a walk on your breaks, and take every opportunity you get to move around the office, even if it’s just to refill your water bottle! You could also consider getting an under-the-desk bike so that you can keep moving while you work.

While it’s important to focus on work while you’re in the office, it’s also important to take care of your health too. A healthier you means a more focused, happy and successful you.
