This holiday season, how will you top your gluten free crackers?

What’s on top of your holiday crackers? For many years, I avoided crackers on snack trays as my body doesn’t tolerate gluten well in large quantities (and really, who can just eat one cracker?) Thanks to my partnership with Breton Gluten Free Crackers, I can now have my snacks and crackers, too!

Breton Gluten Free Crackers have all the flavor and crisp I love and are delightfully gluten free. In the past I’ve found that gluten free cracker can often be too crumbly or too hard, but Breton Gluten Free Crackers have just the right texture.

In fact, when I offered some samples to my husband after photographing my favorite toppings, he was surprised to learn they were gluten free.

How do you top your gluten free crackers?

My go-to savory favorite is smoked salmon with a little cream cheese and dill. Most full fat cream cheese is gluten free, but always be sure to check the labels before you purchase it.

I paired my smoked salmon with the Breton Gluten Free Herb and Garlic Crackers which totally upped the “yum” factor. If you enjoy adding a little veggie to your appetizers, pop a slice of cucumber on top of the cream cheese spread before adding the salmon to your cracker. It also adds some extra zing.

If I’m in the mood for sweets, I opt for homemade apple pie filling, cream cheese and cheddar cheese. It tastes just like a bite of apple pie! If you don’t have any homemade apple pie filling, you can find plenty of gluten free organic versions at your local grocer.

For this topping, it’s best to stick with a plain or buttery flavored cracker. The Breton Gluten Free White Bean with Salt and Pepper was the perfect pairing for my apple pie bites.
