If I had to pick out one word that summarizes what I focus on each year, that word would be J-O-Y! I not only try to live a joyful life, but make it my mission to attempt to deliver joy to those around me. Thanks to my partnership with Teleflora, I have the opportunity to share my thoughts on how I’ll be delivering joy this holiday season and expressing my love out loud!
What is joy? By definition, it’s a “feeling of great pleasure and happiness.” To me, it’s that oodaly-kanoodaly feeling of love, warmth, happiness and appreciation for all of life’s blessings big and small. It’s the celebration of everyday moments and it’s sharing our love and caring with those around us. However you describe joy, it’s certainly a magical and wonderful feeling to give and receive!
One thing I love about the holiday season is that it gives me ample excuses and reminders to deliver joy to those around me and also to the world (as the song says!) Some of the special ways I’m choosing to spread joy this month are:
- Helping with local food and toy drives
- Baking holiday goodies for friends and family
- Decorating our home and celebrating the colors, sights, scents and sounds of the season
- Shopping locally and supporting small businesses as often as possible
- Finding special activities for my kids that help fill our days with family fun
- Picking out special treats and gifts for my loved ones… and being sure to deliver joy to distant friends and relatives, too!
