Middle Earth Paradigm

The Big Bang Theory

Halloween is certainly one of my favorite holidays, so naturally I enjoyed watching the guys of The Big Bang Theory dress up and attend their friend’s Halloween party in the “Middle Earth Paradigm” episode.

If you’ve never seen it, imagine four quirkly roommates intitially choosing identical Halloween costumes and you’ll begin to understand why this episode is full of great Halloween giggles!  And would certainly make it tough on any costume judge to figure out who wins.

Later in the show, after over-analyzing their costume choices (as these smarty-pants scientists generally do,) Sheldon dresses as the doppler effect, Leonard is Frodo from Lord of the Rings, Howard is Robin Hood but gets mistaken for Peter Pan and Raj is Thor, the Norse god of thunder. Each costume is interesting for each character (Raj, the quietest of the group, is the god of thunder).

If I were the costume judge, I’d have to give props to Raj, simply because Thor is one of my favorite comic book characters but ultimately hand off the prize to Howard for sheer comedic effect!  This character gives us a lot to pick on normally, but when his “heroic” Robin Hood costume is continuously mistaken for the boyish Peter Pan, it offers just that much more fodder for future laughs.

Then again, Sheldon’s doppler effect costume is beyond original, and perfectly suited to his uptight character that is seldom understood- reflected well in his costume!

Who would you cast your vote for?
