Women today are taking a more proactive approach to their bodies and fertility and approaching things in a much more practical way than previous generations. Because the thing is, life shifts, plans change and with access to more support tools and medical intervention fertility does not need to follow a linear path or traditional options; women today have options, they have control and they have the ability to plan their life to meet their needs and this is what they are doing in their approaches to fertility in a modern life.
Making Lifestyle Changes
A lot of times, it can be really easy to overlook the importance of lifestyle changes. But women are becoming more switched on and attuned to their bodies to help them set the pace and open the way for future decisions. No longer are they letting “Mother Nature” take its course; they are taking the reins and directing the path.
But these aren’t miracle cures; they are more gentle guiding hands that build the groundwork.
Decisions like choosing nutritious meals and eating regularly are a top priority for women focusing on their fertility — diets high in protein, whole grains, and greens to support bolus functions are in, and quick-fix diets or overly processed foods are out to prevent crashes.
Choosing to reduce or restrict caffeine has also become a choice, as has focusing on movement, not just exercise. Getting outside for walks in the fresh air is a great lifestyle choice to make to keep your body regulated, or a quick strength training exercise to bust stress and keep the body flexible, all count too.
And sleep doesn’t overlook the importance of sleep. Getting 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep is the focus, as women know the struggle of a lack of sleep and staying healthy and in good condition.
Great Holiday Understanding
More and more women are paying attention to their bodies, how they change, and the little patterns that can indicate something is amiss or they’re experiencing changes. Especially as they get older, the thing is, the more you know and understand about your body, the easier it is to make changes and seek help earlier, so you know your options.
It’s things like using cycle tracking apps to help you track cycle lengths and symptoms (even a journal works here, too). Or simply listening to cues to give your body what it needs when it needs it.
Planning Ahead
One of the greatest tools modern lifestyle has afforded fertility is the ability to plan ahead. Be it planning for your first or fourth baby, there are options.
From simple things like getting blood work checked regularly to understanding how things are looking internally, to understanding family history to make more informed decisions right the way through to more definitive decisions like choosing sperm donors or freezing eggs for future use.
Talking to doctors or fertility experts early means women can have a clear view of their options as well as their current health, so they can make the right decision for themselves before it’s too late. Whether it’s looking at procedures such as frozen embryo transfer or considering fertility boosting medication such as Clomid, forward planning opens up options you might not otherwise have if you leave it too long, and women are embracing this flexibility to make fertility work for them and their lives instead of running on someone else’s schedule.
