How to Choose the Perfect Lab Diamond Earrings

Lab diamond earrings are unique because they’ve gone through a process that’s unlike anything traditional.

There’s a lot of popularity growing within this area of the market, and although they may not be quite like the traditional diamonds that are mined to create elegant pieces, these can still be elegant and provide the same glamorous look to all your outfits.

So how do you choose the perfect lab diamond earrings to adorn your earlobes?

Choosing the right pair of earrings is important because they are often the first accessory that many people notice when you enter a room. The right pair helps to frame the face and highlight the natural features, as well as complement any outfit that you’re wearing.

Understanding the 4 Cs of Diamonds

Four Cs of diamonds are worth understanding in the context of lab diamonds specifically. These include carat, cut, color, and clarity.

Carat

Carat refers to the diamond’s weight, and grading the carat is a direct measurement of the weight. For lab-grown diamonds, they’re available in a wide range of carat weights and are typically more accessible from a financial standpoint.

Cut

Cut refers to how the diamond’s facets will interact with the light. Grading a cut quality is often anywhere from excellent to poor.

With lab-grown diamonds, cutting techniques are used with the same processes and tools as natural diamonds. With the controlled growth method used in labs, fewer flaws and more consistency are achieved.

Color

Color is actually referring to the absence of color; using subtle traces of yellow or brown can be seen. The grading for diamonds is the GIA scale, ranging from D, which is completely colorless, to Z, which features light-yellow or brown tints.

With lab-grown diamonds, you can achieve higher color grades through purity and control of the growth conditions.

Clarity

Clarity measures the internal characteristics as well as the external marks. Grading scale ranges from Flawless to Included, which are visible marks visible to the naked eye.

With lab-grown diamonds, you’ve got inclusions that are graded on the same scale.

Determining Your Style

You’ve got plenty of choice in terms of styles of earrings to choose from. These include:

  • Stud Earrings
  • Hoop & Huggie Earrings
  • Drop & Dangle Earrings
  • Specialized Styles

Choosing a style may be determined by how you intend to wear them and what looks are going to pair with these earrings perfectly.

Budgeting for Lab Diamond Earrings

Budgeting for lab-grown diamond earrings involves having a price range based on the desired carat weight, metal, and the 4Cs in general.

Lab diamonds are significantly more affordable than natural ones, and you can look at prices to be around $1,050 for studs, whereas natural diamonds in the same style and setting of 1-carat are around $2,150. Prices will increase depending on the carat size you go for.

There are a lot of benefits to lab diamond earrings, so it’s certainly something worth exploring if you’re looking to try them out for yourself this year or beyond.
