Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Go See GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Immediately #GuardiansoftheGalaxyEvent

To be very straight-forward about this up front, I unabashedly adore this movie!

Which has nothing to do with the fact that I had access to see it prior to the release date.  Or that I was able to interview some of the cast members along with director, James Gunn.  All of which are very cool events, but they have little to do with my drop-dead-hands-down-shut-the-barn-door love of this film.

You see, originally, I was iffy on whether I would enjoy this film.  I thought, like most people, “Guardians of the Galaxy, who?”  Followed quickly by “why should I care?”  I already had Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow and a slew of other amazing Marvel film characters to cherish and look forward to seeing on the big screen this year and next.  Guardians was like a maybe-I’ll-check-it-out-while-I’m-waiting-for-the-next-Avengers-film.

Had I done that, I would have truly missed out having the 3D cinema experience that I now know is destined to become a celebrated classic.  I still can’t believe this movie was as good as it is and can’t wait to see it over-and-over again.  I assure you, multiple visits to the movie theater will be made over the next few weeks and friends and family will be coerced to accompany me.

Why should you spend your hard-earned cash and free time watching Guardians of the Galaxy this weekend?

Peter Quill, Gamora, Drax, Groot and Rocket.  Thanks to superior acting skills and seamless CGI, these characters own you from the get-go.  You “get’ them, you’ll root for them, feel for them, heck you’d probably die for them.  There’s no doubt in mind after viewing this film that these actors bought into their roles and invested every ounce of their talent and soul into this movie.  Chris Pratt (Peter Quill) is everything you could ever hope for in a leading man, his undeniable endearing child-like spirit radiates in every scene making everyone and everything around him blaze with brilliance.  

You’ll feel like a kid again.  Five minutes into the film, the movie theater audience disappeared as a magical universe took over the screen.  I sat on the edge of my seat, trying to absorb every nuisance and detail, immersed fully into the action, the wonder and every twist and turn in this film.  Several times I had to keep myself planted firm in the seat, wanting to propel upward and clap and shout with the sheer joy of it. Not since I was seven-years-old, watching Star Wars for the first time have I felt this way about a movie.  I am 100 percent hooked on the feeling of this film!

This film isn’t like any other Marvel movie you’ve seen.  Don’t get me wrong, I think every Marvel movie has it’s dazzle, but Guardians of the Galaxy is in a whole ‘nother realm.  This movie is raw with an unscripted feel.  The characters are unpolished, the worlds are unconstrained – the film oozes personality and every aspect from the acting to the backdrop and special effects blends together beautifully into super-sized space cocktail that will leave you breathless and dizzy in the end.

The soundtrack has incredible soul.  I’m generally a big fan of cool movie soundtracks and certainly have a big stash of them.  Guardians of the Galaxy does not simply just have a cool movie soundtrack, though, the music is the heart and soul of the film.  The songs in the film were a gift from Peter Quill’s mother and as such, they become an additional character in the film, personified in amazing ways that will leave you giddy.  I’ll simply never be able hear (one of my long-time favorites,) “Moonage Daydream” in the same way again.  The way the music is cast and infused into the film is nothing short of genius.

You’ll find redemption.  Seriously.  If this band of misfits with sordid pasts can get past their own shit long enough to save the universe, surely we can find a way to get over our own hurdles.  It’s fictional, I get it.  But sometimes fiction has the power to transform us.  Movies have the ability to implant ideas, inspire us and change who were are and what we believe.  Guardians of the Galaxy will make its indelible mark before the end credits role.  You may just find yourself believe that there is room in our world for redemption and good can kick evil in the proverbial-ass.

Seriously, don’t miss this film.
