Dollar Tree Ideas: How To Plan a Pizza Party!

Dollar Tree Ideas: How To Plan a Pizza Party!
We put together a fabulous, budget-friendly pizza party thanks to some help from Dollar Tree.
Putting together a party activity on a budget is no easy task.  Finding something everyone will enjoy is difficult enough, let alone finding things that are affordable.
Each month, our 4H Cooking Club club has the challenge of providing recipe time fun that the children will learn from, enjoy creating and the most challenging part – foods that they will want to eat and make again at home.  So, what do you do when you want a huge crowd-pleaser?  Put pizza and fruit smoothies on the menu!

Remember that budget thing, though?  When I’m planning a party, my first go-to store is Dollar Tree.  And I really wasn’t surprised that I found absolutely everything I needed to host a pizza party and then-some.
I was surprised to find that our Dollar Tree has a refrigerated section now.  I’d expected to pick up cheese elsewhere, but didn’t have to as they have a full selection of cheeses plus oodles of other food to fill your shopping cart with, all $1 each!

I picked up a few veggies choices from the supermarket to encourage the children to add some flavor and an extra boost of nutrition to their creations.

Each individual pizza cost approximately $1.25 each, but the smiles from and over-all excitement of the children to find we were making custom pizzas is priceless.   At this affordable price, each child was able to make two pizzas.  One to enjoy at the party and one to take home for later.

This is not only a great cooking club activity, it’s perfect for birthday party celebrations, too. It simply tickles the kids that they can customize the pizzas to suit their preferences.

To add another boost of nutrition, each participant made custom smoothies with bananas and/or strawberries, Greek yogurt and a little bit of milk to smooth it out.  You can easily mix up fruits as desired, using what is fresh and in season for this inexpensive and refreshing treat.

Thanks to Dollar Tree, we were able to stay way under budget on ingredients and pick up a festive oven mitt and a pizza pan (also from Dollar Tree) as a “goodie bag” gift for each child to take home and continue their pizza adventures!
