Children’s Health and Education: As a Matter of Fact, Kohls Cares About That #DrSuess

Two of the first books I remember loving as a child are “Green Eggs and Ham” and “Hop On Pop.”  The enjoyment of these quickly led to discovering “The Cat In The Hat,” “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish,” “Fox in Sox” and so many others of the delightful and entertaining creations of Dr. Seuss.

Over the years, I let these books collect dust on the shelves or lost them to young cousins or yard sales, my initial love of these titles and many of the “Dr. Seussisms” followed me into adulthood and I realized the depth of the amazing nuggets of wisdom found in the pages of these simple children’s books, like…

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself, any direction you choose..”

and (my personal favorite)

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

Along with this initial enchantment with all things Dr. Seuss and the realization of the wonderful life lessons contained in the quirky rhymes, came my desire to share Dr. Seuss books with my children.

Right now, Kohl’s is making it super easy to share our love of Seuss with playful and affordable books and plush toys, offered in-store and online, through the Kohl’s Cares cause merchandise program. Since the program’s inception in 2000, the Kohl’s Cares philanthropic program has raised more than $208 million for children’s health and education programs in local communities across the country.
