My Rural Boys in Downtown Disney- Orlando |
When I was 5 years-old, my grandparents decided to retire and move away. I vividly remember the day they left – they were such a loving, vital part of our daily lives that the experience was very traumatic to my little world.
I remained glum about it until one day, we flew to this magical place called Florida, where orange trees blossomed and beaches beckoned. The sunlight was powerful, the air smelled like ocean spray, and everyone wore flip flops that smacked along the concrete walkways en route to the pool.
And after a long drive one day where we crossed long bridges and passed a gazillion orange groves, I came to discover that Florida was also home to this little wonderous place called Walt Disney World, too.
As you can well imagine, throughout my childhood, Florida became my home away from home, always welcoming, offering me countless memories and a treasure trove of experiences I enjoyed with my grandparents. Though I certainly missed having grandma and grandpa as part of our daily lives, I am grateful for the enrichment and culture spending time with them in Florida offered.
My love for the state of Florida continues, along with my love of the scent and taste of oranges. We often visited road side stands to bring back fresh bags of Valencias and Mineolas to enjoy after our stay. Grandma always served Tropicana at breakfast and lunchtime, and to this day, it’s still my favorite.
There are some things that take you back in time, to a moment, to a feeling, to the warmth of the sun and the scent of the orange groves, to the love in Grandma’s kitchen. OJ in the morning does that for me. Knowing Tropicana Pure Premium is 100 percent pure Florida Orange Juice simply adds to my enjoyment.
When my daughter was born, I knew I had to share my Florida memories with her and create more of our own. Visits have continued after the births of my sons and someday, I plan to take my grandchildren there, as well. My children share in my love for Florida oranges and orange juice, too, and that makes a mom happy because I confident they are getting a full supply of Vitamin C from their morning glass of Tropicana.
Have you been to Florida? Do you have favorite memories to share? If not, I highly recommend a visit, and at the very least, try enjoying the fruits of the state at your breakfast table 🙂

What a beautiful memory- it’s amazing what a smell or taste can trigger. It makes me want a glass of OJ right now!
Kari
Thanks Kari! It certainly is a wondrous thing how our senses maintain the memories.
Cyber clinking my glass of OJ to yours! 🙂
