Some gardens are mostly brick and concrete. Some gardens are grassy, luscious paradises. And some gardens – like yours – are a total muddy mess!
You’re not sure you’ve seen a bit of grass last longer than a couple of days out there. What with the way the soil seems to trap every drop of moisture that falls out of the sky.
And if you’re quite honest, you’re sick of not being able to enjoy the garden without getting mud all over your shoes or slipping as you try to walk down the pathway.
But what can you actually do here? How do you rescue your garden and make it a more enjoyable place to be?
Let it Dry Out
Muddy gardens usually just need some time to dry out. As the mud is quite heavy on top, the lower, more moist layers of the garden don’t get a single hint of the sun or warm air.
That’s what you’re here to change. Try a bit of tilling here to help break up the soil as it currently sits and let the air penetrate into the ground.
If you’re going to try and make a difference, once and for all, you need to plan your attack carefully. First, choose a couple of days when it’s meant to be warm and sunny. Then, make sure you’ve got some proper time to go out there and get down in the dirt.
Lay a Fake Lawn
Muddy gardens, especially those that suffer from soil types that are prone to getting clogged up with moisture, are hard to both make and keep green. Any lawn work can be quickly undone by another spring shower, and the pH balance may never be quite right.
But let’s face it, you’re not quite happy with that! You want a green lawn you can enjoy throughout the summer. As such, opting for a fake lawn may be your best choice here.
Laying turf yourself can be pretty frustrating to try and do though, so hire a team of Fake Turf Installers to lay down artificial grass for a more natural, evergreen look.
Fit a New Patio
Your old one might be a bit too small for your needs. It also may be quite dirty and trodden on as is. So, if you’ve got some new turf to put down, why not get some patio stones or tiles to fit as well?
Make your actually usable bit of garden area bigger, especially with some drier, more stable soil underneath it. Spread out, give your patio more surface area (and the mud below it a better chance of holding up). This will create a more suitable sanctuary for yourself.
When your garden is just a bit of a muddy mess, you can literally get stuck with what to do with it. But no longer! Let the soil dry out and breathe, build a better patio, and use fake turf to create a lawn you can enjoy.
