Let’s face it, moving house can be annoying. All sorts of things can crop up that you didn’t expect. The good news is that a lot of these issues are completely solved as long as you have the right approach. Here’s what to do:
Procrastination
One of the biggest things facing people moving home is sheer procrastination. A lot of people just simply don’t want to get on and do the work, and that’s completely understandable. However, the good news is that there are so many ways to deal with this nowadays.
- Pros download apps that literally train your brain to avoid procrastination using the latest science, allowing you to make massive breakthroughs and achieve the things you want to do.
- You can also do little things like creating checklists and tackling one room every week before moving.
Again, breaking up the work into smaller parts can make it more manageable psychologically.
Needing to move large items
Needing to move large items like a refrigerator or sofa bed into your apartment is another annoyance. You can’t do it yourself because it won’t fit in the car.
The good news, though, is that these days there are pickup and delivery services. These are essentially bespoke and customizable services you can use to collect and deliver the things that you need collecting and delivering. You have complete control over the service, so you can reclaim your freedom and make sure your belongings are where you want them to be.
Furniture not fitting through doors
Your furniture not fitting through doors is another issue that you might run into. If you have ever moved house before, you’ll know that things like couches and beds can get stuck.
To avoid this, you’ll want to start off by measuring the doors and entry points into your new property. Try to figure out whether the objects you have already are able to fit through these. If they won’t fit, see if you can disassemble them. If that’s not an option, you can sometimes remove door frames to give you a bit of extra space. Measuring this space is also helpful because it tells you how much room you have. If you still don’t have any space, then you may need to reconsider the furniture that you put in your home, although this is a rare occurrence.
Overpacking
Packing too much stuff is also a problem you can run into. If you’ve got constant boxes and overloaded trucks, then you may be looking at spending a lot more than you planned. Again, though, there are solutions to this. You can declutter everything before packing that you haven’t used in the last year, and you can simply throw out anything that you don’t think will serve you once you move into your new place.
Lost items
Lastly, a lot of people run into lost items issues, but you can avoid this by labelling all of your boxes and arranging everything in a logical manner. You can also have priority boxes containing things like toiletries and the clothes you need for the first week.
