Are you familiar with the TRIALS OF APOLLO series?

THE TRIALS OF APOLLO is a new book series by beloved author, Rick Riordan, who also brought us the New York Times best-selling middle grade series of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” and “The Heroes of Olympus.”

My sons and I fell in love with the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series when they were in middle-school.  We’ve continued our love of reading Riordan books and are still enchanted by every new book.

My oldest son is in college now, the youngest in high school and I, of course, am a 50+ adult now.  We all have one thing in common when it comes to books:  hands-down, we’ll be avid Rick Riordan readers for life!

Everyone of his books is approachable, highly entertaining and full of diverse, quirky, and curious characters.  Narrated in first person, by Apollo himself, THE TRIALS OF APOLLO series is truly a bundle of delightful wit!

The premise of the series is that the god Apollo, after angering his father Zeus, is cast out of Olympus.  As part of his punishment, he is stripped of his godly powers and sent to New York City as mortal teenage boy.  Throughout the series, he has to learn to survive in the modern work and figure out how to regain his father’s favor.  Of course nothing is that easy when you are a god!

The series includes:

  • Book 1: The Hidden Oracle
  • Book 2: The Dark Prophecy
  • Book 3: The Burning Maze
  • and the new Book 4: The Tyrant’s Tomb

One of the things we also love about this series is that there’s continuity from the prior series.  Plenty of our demigod friends return from the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” and “The Heroes of Olympus” series to aid Apollo in his efforts to get back to Olympus.

THE TRIALS OF APOLLO 4: THE TYRANT’S TOMB

Book 4 of the TRIALS OF APOLLO series is now in bookstores everywhere.  In this latest edition, a down-trodden Apollo travels to Camp Jupiter when he must learn what it truly means to be a hero, or die trying.

SYNOPSIS: It’s not easy being Apollo, especially when you’ve been turned into a human and banished from Olympus. On his path to restoring five ancient oracles and reclaiming his godly powers, Apollo (aka Lester Papadopoulos) has faced both triumphs and tragedies.

Now his journey takes him to Camp Jupiter in the San Francisco Bay Area, where the Roman demigods are preparing for a desperate last stand against the evil Triumvirate of Roman emperors. Hazel, Reyna, Frank, Tyson, Ella, and many other old friends will need Apollo’s aid to survive the onslaught.

Unfortunately, the answer to their salvation lies in the forgotten tomb of a Roman ruler… someone even worse than the emperors Apollo has already faced.

Apollo really brings teenage angst to a new level!  As he narrates the action, it’s really funny to see how a god views the reality of today’s earthly world.

Certainly not always what you would expect it to be. Riordan does a spectacular job of bringing us inside the inner-working of a disenchanted god’s mind.  The end result of which gifts the reader a hilarious and wonderful read.

Everyone of Riordan’s last twenty books have debuted at #1 on the New York Times Best-Seller list for good reason.  He’s a master at creating original, entertaining, intriguing and enjoyable novels. THE TRIALS OF APOLLO 4: THE TYRANT’S TOMB is totally another triumph!
