Ask anyone the first thing that comes to mind when you say “South Carolina” and it’s likely that they’ll answer with “Myrtle Beach”. It’s forever been known as the destination for fun in the sun. As you can imagine, this literal hot spot has many places to stay, but a family favorite is the Crown Reef Resort Myrtle Beach. The place has everything you need to have a fun filled family vacation without ever leaving the grounds!
After experiencing the resort recently with my family and loving every moment there, here are just a few reasons I think your family will love Crown Reef Resort:
The fun new waterpark. Who doesn’t love a waterpark? The Crown Reef Waterpark is pretty spectacular. It’s got everything from a 278-foot long two-person tube waterslide right down to an 8 foot kiddie slide for the littlest ones, and my favorite feature – the 575-foot oceanfront lazy river. Relaxing on a comfortable inflatable tube and soaking up the sunshine is my idea of beachside bliss!
The pools. If you’re not into waterslides, you can still enjoy either the heated indoor or the tropical island pool in addition to hot tubs and fountains all around the property. There are three kiddie pools and 11 whirlpools.
The food is abundant and amazing! There are several options for each meal of the day, but guest favorites include Town Center dining, The Swirl Ice Cream & Sweet Shop, and the Loco Gecko Restaurant.
The activities. There really is so much to do at crown reef for the entire family. For the kids, there are visits from Salty, the shark mascot, tie-dye shirts, poolside movies, sand art, make your own sundaes, and lots more! My teen sons particularly loved the Winner’s Circle Arcade filled with both classic and new games. You can purchase a game card to play any or all the games in the arcade and the points won during games are loaded back to the card for easy redemption at the Winner’s Circle for all sorts of prizes.
The beach, obviously. Crown Reef Resort sits right on Myrtle Beach, and guests have unrestricted access to the Atlantic Ocean. Whether you want to enter a sand castle tournament, play beach volleyball, or just hang out on a blanket and soak up some sun, there’s a beach activity for you.
The Fitness Center. Okay, so thinking about being at the gym isn’t at the top of your vacation must-do list, but once you see this fitness center you might change your mind. It’s got 1144 air conditioned square feet of space and features state of the art equipment as well as 4 flat screen TVs to make your workout seem a little less…work.
Overall, Crown Reef is a pretty amazing family destination. You can have a great time without ever leaving the resort or you can spend some time exploring the thousands of reasons Myrtle Beach is a top vacation destination. Better yet, plan two trips so you can do both!
Travel Tip: Want to avoid the summer crowds? The Crown Reef is open year-round and has some great off-season rates. Myrtle Beach has ideal weather for visitors through most of the year and as a bonus, the waterpark at the Crown Reef is enclosed during the colder months, so you can still enjoy all the activities.

We are hoping to go to Myrtle Beach later this month. This looks like such a colorful, fun place and I would love to stay on the beach, haven’t done that before. Always have to walk a bit or try to find parking. Going to check Crown Reef out, hopefully in our budget, thanks!!
Be sure to check out the amazing deals right now, Rose. I think you’ll find staying at Crown Reef is well within your vacation budget this summer. Enjoy!
WOW! 11 whirlpools! Pretty sweet! It all sounds very nice and I think my 2 kids will have plenty of fun things to do here. We are in the process of scheduling a small 7-10 day vacation and this has just been bumped to the top of the list. Like you, all I want to do is to relax in the pool, not do anything and not think about anything. Just sit there like a vegetable :)) That would be pretty awesome to me!
It’s totally the right spot for relaxing, Delia! I love that my family nudges me to do some adventurous stuff like kayaking, too, but truly, I’m happy as pie to return to the lazy pool later lol Hope you have an amazing vacation!
