Holiday Ready Kitchen | Samsung 4-Door Flex Refrigerator with FlexZone Review

Every year when holiday time rolls around, I wish I had a bigger refrigerator.  This wish has been compounding the older my children get and the bigger our family gatherings become.  Growing kids and new family members equals more and more food for a super hungry holiday crew.  This year, my wishes have come true thanks to hhgregg and Samsung as the Samsung 4-Door Flex Black Stainless 23 cu. ft. Refrigerator has just landed in our home for the holidays! Though I received this unit for review purposes, all thoughts, opinions are pure holiday kitchen joy are solely my own.

Holiday Ready Kitchen | Samsung 4-Door Flex Refrigerator with FlexZone Review

As a mom of three, my daily life revolves around the kitchen from packing lunches to making sure there’s a hot supper on the table to full my crew for evening chores, sports and school activities.  During the holiday season, the bulk of my free time is spent in the kitchen baking, preparing for family gatherings or fixing all the trimmings for the “big day” celebrations.  When you are thriving and surviving the kitchen madness that accompanies this season, a handy new appliance can really make your cooking days merrier!

There are so many features to love on the Samsung 4-Door Flex Black Stainless Refrigerator, take a peek at our visual tour and scroll down for a list of reasons why this wonderful appliance is one of the best yet to brighten the Rural Mom Kitchen:

Deck the shelves with plates of turkey!  – 8 ways the Samsung 4-Door Flex Black Stainless Refrigerator makes me sing with joy:

Size – When it comes to refrigerators, size matters! The 36-inch sleek design with slm counter depth style easily fits in our kitchen but still delivers 23 cubic feet of ample space for all our groceries, leftovers and then-some!

Flexible zones – The versatile, FlexZone™ bottom-right door that can be either a fridge or freezer is the bomb-diggity of features for me! As we have a deep freezer, I generally keep very little in our standard refrigerator freezer and always wished I had more refrigerator space instead.  Now I do… and just in time for mega holiday leftovers!  If I change my mind and need more freezer space back, no problem, I can select one of the four customizable temperature settings (fridge, chilled, soft freeze, or frozen) at any time.

Adjustable shelving- Ever get home from the grocery store to realize you have no adequate shelf space left for the milk?  Or have you tried to chill white wine for your holiday party only to find that you have to lay the bottle flat because your refrigerator shelf height is too shallow? Me, too!  Which is why I love the built-in adjustable three-way shelving that is designed to fit taller items.  You can use it as a standard shelf, slide-in or flip-up to solve your storage space problems on the spot.

Superior lighting –  A pet peeve of mine with every refrigerator I’ve owned prior to the Samsung 4-Door Flex Refrigerator was poor lighting.  With the front standard bulbs, it’s always been impossible to see what is on the back of the shelves and always what’s in the crispers.  With high-efficiency LED lighting, the Samsung 4-Door Flex lights up every corner, allowing you to see all the corners of your refrigerator easily.  It’s also more energy-efficient than conventional lighting and space-saving, too.  An all-around fabulous feature!

Freshness factor –  With two humidity-controlled crisper drawers, you can change the settings to suit your needs and keep your produce fresher longer.  Other adjustable features in the refrigerator also put in you in total control like the ability to freeze or fast chill your food with the Power Freeze and Power Cool options. You can quickly chill your holiday punch for serving or firm up your ice-cream lickety-split.  If you’ve ever driving home to find your ice-cream on the verge of morphing into a puddled mess, you’ll understand why I’m happy to have this feature.

Ice mastery – Like me you probably have a good ice maker and water dispenser on your current refrigerator and I admit, until now, I didn’t know there was a better way.  Now that I do, it’s a total game changer!  The Samsung 4-Door Flex Refrigerator has an external, Ice Blue Digital Display that allows you to easily control all of the ice and water (and several other) features easily with a touch of the button.  It’s also designed to provide a uniquely-tall opening to make it easy to fill any vessel you wish with ice or filtered water.  Have a SodaStream, large vase, tall pitcher or decorative glass?  No problem!  They can all easily be filled.  I used to have to rely on a separate water filter on our sink and use other glasses to catch the ice and transfer it to these things.  No more!  Pardon the pun, but it’s totally cool!

ENERGY STAR® rated – Last, but you know definitely not least with this eco-friendly gal, the Samsung 4-Door Flex Black Stainless Refrigerator not only meets ENERGY STAR® requirements, it exceeds them.  This makes me one very merry new appliance owner!

Holiday Ready Kitchen | Samsung 4-Door Flex Refrigerator with FlexZone Review

As we continue through the holidays, I’m continuing to find new things to love about our new Samsung 4-Door Flex Refrigerator, like the easy to access shelving and deep shelving on the doors which helps me house all my condiments and canning goods.  Our whole family is happy they can find all the foods and leftovers we love easily while enjoying the crazy-good features of this awesome appliance.  Truly, I can’t think of anything I’ve found to dislike about this model yet.

You didn’t mention whether or not this refrigerator makes any noise. I’ve read several reviews from people who bought this refrigerator and in every review there was a comment about a “babbling” sound this refrigerator makes. Also, were there any problems with the icemaker regarding slow icemaker, water dripping on floor, etc. Although everyone loved this fridge, the main complaint was the noise it made.

Great questions! Haven’t noticed any unusual noises, the fridge is actually quite quiet and quieter than any of our previous refrigerators. If you watch the video overview, you’ll note there’s no background noise from fans either, even when we have the fridge open most of the time so overall, not finding any noise issues.

As for ice, initially we’ve found the maker produced and filled quickly, but we haven’t had the chance to test it with heavy traffic (like a party situation) yet. I’ll update when we do!

Regarding water dripping on the floor, that has not happened at all in our experience. Lines are secure and ice/water maker are working great. Water dispenser has your standard reservoir well to help catch any excess or like stray ice.

      Hope that helps!

I forgot to ask……is your refrigerator standard size or counter depth? Not sure if Samsung just came out with the counter depth one.

We just moved in our new house so we still have our old fridge. It’s a rundown Beko that barely does its job, the Samsung 4-Door Flex sounds like a dream come true. I’m very picky when it comes to buying new electronics but this model checks all the boxes. Do you happen to know if the model you have is antifingerprints? We have two boys that like to touch every little thing in the house and I want to make sure that at least the fridge stays fingerprints-free.

Hi Veronica! The model we have does have a fingerprint resistant coating and the black stainless naturally camouflages a lot better than regular stainless. We’ve found that it doesn’t completely eliminate fingerprints but certainly reduces them and hides them very, very well! 🙂

We need HONEST help. Purchased a Samsung Energy Star 4-Door Flex French Door. Not delivered yet. I came home and read the reviews. OH NO! Nearly everyone says ice maker is a nightmare, the service is THE WORST, parts not available will break down. Should I cancel? Senior Citizen

We’ve been using our for 3 years without any problems. I find that often reviews and experiences vary on products and can only advise that you use your best judgement. If you are leery of a purchase, you may wish to re-think it? I can’t speak to their customer service as we haven’t had the need to call, so sorry I’m not much help there.

Thank you. We did cancel the purchase as we spoke to a relative who does have one. The hate it and have had so many problems with the ice maker, noise factor, and ultimately customer service.

Hi Patti, thanks for the update! Ultimately, you have to be happy with the decision. That’s a major investment, for sure! I hope you find a fridge that works wonderfully for you! Sorry to hear your relative has had so many problems. Never any fun to have an uncooperative appliance!
