Do you have an active child? My boys are constantly on-the-go, and I find myself constantly reminding them to stay hydrated! They tend to forget because they’re so busy playing hard, especially in the warmer weather.
It’s one of those things that are ingrained in generation after generation – your grandmother told her kids to drink more water, your mom told you, and now you tell your kids. While we all do it, not too many of us know the reason it’s so essential.
Bodies are made up of mostly water, so hydration is important for every single bodily function, and even more so when you have the energy of a child. (Don’t you wish you still had that energy!?)
How much water is enough? Well, I’m not a doctor, but I’m going to tell you what I know. There are a couple of methods to figuring this out. One is the weight method. You drink half of your weight in ounces in a day, so if you weigh 100 lbs, you should drink 50 ounces a day. Other people like to drink 8 glasses, which used to be the standard recommendation of doctors.
The thing about kids is that water usually isn’t their drink of choice. They’d much rather drink some sugary stuff full of artificial colors and flavors. While sodas and fruit drinks like that are okay in moderation, (and certainly better than being dehydrated), water is the best choice.
There are ways you can “spice up” water to make it more flavorful and appetizing to kids without adding all of the sugary junk, too. For example, you can try water with a wedge of lemon or some other citrus fruit. Homemade lemonade is always a favorite – just use as little sugar as possible.
Sometimes all it takes is a fun water bottle or silly straw to make drinking water more appealing. Silly straws are also good for getting them to drink other things too – even milk and “yucky” veggie juice.
Offering products like Aquaball for on-the-go are a fun way to encourage your active child to hydrate, too. Their fun new naturally flavored zero-calorie drinks feature Disney favorites from FROZEN characters to AVENGERS. Available in tempting flavors like orange splash, berry blast, fruit punch and grape, it’s an easy way to up the fun-factor!
Thanks to Aquaball, we had the opportunity to introduce the new flavored Aquaball to our soccer team and they were an instant hit! As a mom, I feel good about supplying this “treat” to our sports team. There’s 12 ounces of water in every bottle to help keep the kids hydrated and no sugar or artificial flavors and colorings to weigh them down!
If your child doesn’t like to drink water, no matter what bottle you serve it in, try making your own ice pops or slushies using Aquaball. The kids won’t be able to get enough, especially on a hot day! Water is still water, frozen or not.
Depending on your child, you may have to be a little more creative. The important thing is to make sure they stay hydrated, especially during the summer months. The harder they play and the higher the temperatures, the more water they’ll need to stay healthy.

My son is always go-go-go. He doesn’t want to slow down, but these cute drinks would probably help him to slow down and hydrate.
They do have that effect! My sons were all over them when they arrived. Had to hide them so we could share with the soccer team, too lol
Seems I’m am forever asking my girls how much water did you drink today? I remind them that by the time they actually feel thirsty, they are about a quart low, so these cute Aqua balls would be perfect for them. Especially with the Frozen characters!
Those are my favorite, too, Linda! How you you not like drinking from a cute round Olaf bottle?
How adorable!! My son loves these and they are perfect when we go out for ATV rides!! 🙂
What a great idea, Jamie! Will have to add that to our ATV packing list!
You had me at Frozen and Cinderella. My kids are Disney Fans so they would appreciate a beverage like this and I appreciate the hydration they would receive.
