Right on the heels of the Maleficent casting an enchanting spell over Disney fans young and old, a new live-action film already has audiences buzzing with excitement. Cinderella is getting a modern make-over bringing to life the timeless images from Disney’s 1950 animated masterpiece as fully-realized characters in a visually dazzling spectacle for a whole new generation.
In celebration of this new spin on an old classic, I thought it would be fun to raise a “glass slipper” to the fabulous folks at Disney. Whip up this fruity summer-licious concoction, kick back and enjoy the sneak peek teaser preview below.
Clear Glass Slipper Cocktail
1/2 ounce pineapple flavored rum
1/2 ounce mango flavored rum
1 1/2 ounces coconut water
Fill a shaker with ice. Add coconut water and rums. Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Rim with colored sugar or coconut flakes (or both!)
Mock-tail version: Substitute the rums with pineapple and mango flavored juices or sparkling waters.
Synopsis: The story of “Cinderella” follows the fortunes of young Ella (Lily James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother. Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera) into the family home. But, when Ella’s father unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family.
Finally relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes, and spitefully renamed Cinderella, Ella could easily begin to lose hope. Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella is determined to honor her mother’s dying words and to “have courage and be kind.” She will not give in to despair nor despise those who mistreat her. And then there is the dashing stranger she meets in the woods. Unaware that he is really a prince, not merely an apprentice at the Palace, Ella finally feels she has met a kindred soul. It appears her fortunes may be about to change when the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, raising Ella’s hopes of once again encountering the charming Kit (Richard Madden). Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress. But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand, and a kindly beggar woman (Helena Bonham-Carter) steps forward and – armed with a pumpkin and a few mice – changes Cinderella’s life forever.

Yummy, this sounds like a great drink. 😉
Thanks! Hope you enjoy it!
This cocktail looks so beautiful. It really does look like a glass slipper and must be lovely at cocktail parties.
Perfect for girls night in, too 🙂 Enjoy!
Even though I love Disney classics, I like the idea of this remake because it will share the positive and needed message of kindness in a way only Disney can. I can’t wait to share this with my daughters. Now, about that drink- it’s so classy looking. I will have to give this a try soon.
Completely agree! I could watch the classics over and over again, but love to see the modern twists, too, and truly appreciate Disney for always having an uplifting message.
How fun! We love Disney and can’t wait to try that Clear Glass Slipper Cocktail!
Thanks Daisy! May you enjoy both of them thoroughly!
Very pretty drink, I can’t wait for this film to come out. They played the preview during Maleficent.
