If there’s one thing that can beckon everyone to the kitchen and instantly fill a home with delightful aromas, it’s fresh-baked cookies in the oven.  The second I pull out the first batch, my crew gravitates quickly to find out when they can take the first bite!

To help get the word out and to celebrate the 47th Pillsbury Bake Bake-Off® Contest, I received a box chock full of baking inspiration from from Plateful Co-op and the a few of the Pillsbury Bake-Off sponsors.

The first thing I gravitated towards trying was the Pillsbury Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough from the new Pillsbury gluten free dough line of products. As someone with gluten sensitivities, I’m pleased to see this new product development.

The cookie dough is easy to work with and bakes well, in the same manner as you would expect from chocolate chip cookie dough.  I found that when I rolled the dough into ball shapes rather than just dropping the dough on the cookie sheet that the cookies spread more evenly and of course, had a lovely round shape.  Also tested with and without parchment paper and using parchment paper is certainly the way to go!  The parchment paper cookies slid right off, had a better consistency throughout and no brown bottoms!

Overall, impressed with the new Pillsbury Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.  They taste great and deliver what you would expect from a delicious, quick and easy chocolate chip refrigerator cookie dough.

The only quirk is a little “grit” in the dough, but I do find this common with gluten free cookie varieties.  Doesn’t interfere with the taste one bit, but does affect the texture slightly.  Apparently my crew noticed zero difference as they quickly gobbled up the cookies and asked when I would be making more.
