New Year, New You: How to Save Money on Health and Beauty Products

How to Save Money on Health and Beauty Products

Do you love make-up, soaps, and lotions but hate spending the money they cost? Good news for you – you can save money each month on health and beauty products.

The result: the same great hair and skin you desire plus extra money in the bank. You can adjust your budget to take advantage of the savings, or spend it on more health and beauty products. It’s completely up to you.

Shop online. Many websites offer a discount on products, and free shipping, when you become a member and make repeat purchases. Much like a loyalty program, you can earn discounts on your favorite products. You can even earn money toward future purchases. For example, Ulta offers points which you can accumulate and spend on future purchases.

Use coupon codes. There are a large number of group shopping sites, membership sites and websites that collect online promotion codes. Use these sites to save big bucks on your health and beauty products. Before you make a purchase, visit your site of choice or do a quick coupon/promo code search. Use the codes to save money online.

Do an honest comparison. Many health and beauty products cost a fortune, but you’re really paying for the packaging – and the name on the package. You can often buy far superior products at the drugstore for much less.

For example, Olay Professional products have received rave reviews from celebrity make-up experts, dermatologists and consumers. They’re better than or equal to many of the hundred dollars an ounce type products, and you can buy them at your local drugstore. Another good example is Murad. A review of the Murad line is all that is needed to see that it can be just as good, if not better than a lot of the more expensive skincare brands.

Know when to save and where to splurge. Sometimes it makes sense to spend the money. For example, if your favorite perfume costs $100 then that’s what it’s going to cost and the knock off brand isn’t going to satisfy you. However, that charcoal black eyeliner doesn’t need to cost $50 when the $3.00 one at the drugstore does the exact same thing.

In fact, many of the drugstore shampoos, make-up and even lotions and soaps are top quality.

Remember, beauty comes from the inside. Often, simply taking better care of your health will have better results than expensive lotions, creams and make-up. Eat well, exercise often and take great care of your skin. A regular multi vitamin, sunscreen and a calm heart and mind give you that extra glow that no lotion can provide.

You don’t have to spend thousands a year to look your best. With a little planning, research and devotion to good self-care, you can look great and have money left over to spend. Maybe a night on the town, a romantic getaway with your love or a new outfit – enjoy the savings!

Valuable article. I really agree with know when to save and when to splurge. I tried to go cheap once on a make-up remover, puffy face and more money later, I learned my lesson. Sometimes, you go with the spendy brand that works and find other items to make up the difference!
