Happy May Day neighbors!  On this special day of spring celebration, I’m delighted to share with you this reminder of the important areas to focus on this month.

May is a great month to:

 – find deals on handbags, jewelry, spring outerwear, tires, and rugs.

– snag clearances on baskets, sleepwear, candy, and after Mother’s Day items.

 – celebrate Cinco de Mayo with some fabulous mexican-inspired dishes.  Here’s a few to get your taste-buds heading south:

Tequila Lime Barbecue Ribs, Nacho Casserole and Margarita Guacamole

Jackfruit Enchilada Casserole

Grace’s Black Bean Pie

celebrate the Kentucky Derby in style and avoid harmful rays while out in the garden with a great big sunhat!

Also be sure to try Rural Mom’s Double Chocolate Bourbon and Sorghum Brownies created for derby day gatherings.

– celebrate Moms!  Be sure to thank and show appreciation for all the great “moms” in your life whether family or friends.

let some fresh air in and finishing your spring cleaning!

tend to your floral plants –  prune forsythias (after they have flowered,) fertilize rose plants, begin to plant annuals, hang baskets of flowers and sew seeds for summer florals.

plan any needed home improvements. Does the barn need painting?  Do the decks need scrubbing?  Gather up supplies and set a date to begin each project.

finalize arrangements for summer vacation, summer camps, or expected road trips.  With Memorial Day celebrations commencing soon, summer is right around the bend!
