How To Wear Your Fresh Produce Plus Size #Fashion

When it comes to fashion, I’m way out of my comfort zone.  In fact, that’s what I generally gravitate towards- comfort- selecting all-purpose wash-n-wear go-everywhere clothing that can take me from the garden to soccer practice and back home again to fix supper and wrap-up the daily chores.

As a tall, plus-size woman, I’ve always felt a little bit like the awkward tree trunk in the crowd.  So, I tend to select casual wear in dark neutrals like navy, black, brown and denim blue.  This camouflage tactic ousts the guess-work out of getting dressed and fabricates my closet into one big mix and match (that looks a litltle bit like the racks in a Navy surplus store.)

What happens then when I stumble across a company with bright, attractive, comfy fashions that epitomizes everything I love in a clothing company including a super kitschy name that makes me smile nearly as much as their clever fashions do?

I totally freak out and crawl back in the recesses of my dark analogous color wheel closet and think, there’s no flipp’n way I can pull off corals and bright blues.  (I mean, have you ever seen a turquoise tree trunk outside of a Dr. Seuss tale?)

Then I come to my senses and remember that part of my commitment to bliss this year is to wrench myself out of the decade-long time warp I’m frozen in.

And I realize that the Cobalt blue of the plus-size Fresh Produce Boardwalk Dress in Baja print that I’m gawking at on the computer screen makes me feel like smiling, skipping, and taking a long, breezy trip through the Caribbean!

However, the dress comes in darker shades of black and navy and maybe those would suit my body size better… and oh my, do you see what path I’m tripping down again?  This is when it’s time to call out the big-guns, an intervention of mega-proportion to help the fashion-challenged overcome the hurdles of dark fabric abyss.  The clarity that will only come with the aid of good (and fashionable) friends.

Since I couldn’t rely on my four-legged or fine feathered friends to do more than nudge in on my photo shoot, I had to rely on three of the classiest, honest, and genuine women I know to set me straight.

Overwhelmingly, and not surprisingly, with no coercing on my part, in tandem they chose the Cabolt blue plus-size Fresh Produce Boardwalk Dress in Baja print.

So, thanks to Grace, Melanie, and Pam, three gems I count as dear friends, I soon found myself smiling, skipping, and rejoicing around my farm while making travel wardrobe plans.  Though I may not make it to the Caribbean this year, on my first stop of Dallas, I will certainly be glowing (and comfy!) in my new resort wear.
