“We are the miracle of force and matter making itself over into imagination and will. Incredible. The Life Force experimenting with forms. You for one. Me for another. The Universe has shouted itself alive. We are one of the shouts.” -Ray Bradbury
At the Kentucky State Fair, my hubby always has to drag me away from the newborn chicks exhibit. In fact, I find every excuse I can to pass this exhibit multiple times when we are staying at the fair, which isn’t too difficult to do as my rural boys participate in 4H Chicken Judging competitions.
My hubby remarked this year that I’d have to wait hours probably for the chicks to hatch and I was like “so?” What a remarkable way to spend an hour, witnessing the miracle of life.
I love when new baby chicks come to our farm, too. And though they are gorgeous as full grown chickens, there’s just something very special about those soft, fluffy, adorable babies.
A little girl standing next to me at the state fair had never seen a baby chick being born, nor did she realize that they hatched from eggs. It was very precious to watch her reactions.
“I really love them,” she said to me, “I just want to hug them.”
I certainly agree.
