Caution, Joy of Menopause in Progress

People talk about the “joys” of menopause but lately, my personal zone is feeling more like this:

Caution Do Not Enter Sign

Between sizzling unexpected hot flashes, annoying mood swings, and less-than-comfortable changes occurring during pre-menopause… there are times I’d like to put up caution tape and hide behind it.

I’m certainly not afraid of going through menopause and I do embrace this new chapter in my life, but let’s face it, the body changes can be a real pain!  So, until I see the light at the end of the tunnel, I covet the chance to find a little remedy to alleviate the harshness of some of the symptoms of menopause.

Like the cooling relief that Poise Roll-On Cooling Gel offered when I was heated up:

I first learned all about the Poise Roll-On Cooling Gel on the Walmart.com Poise Fab Five page along with four other menopause-friendly Poise products: Poise Body Cooling Towelettes, Poise Feminine Wash, Poise Panty Freshener, and Poise Personal Lubricant.

I also found some helpful info and commiseration from the Fab 5 ladies who are going through menopause and a $1 off coupon!  Subsequently, I ran out to Walmart and picked up each one of the Poise Products along with some extras, including my favorite Poise liners. (You can see my full shopping journey here: https://plus.google.com/photos/110626780416241914200/albums/5788006020076295841)

Poise Fab Five Product Line and Poise Panty Liners

All uber helpful products that address common menopausal symptoms like hot flashes, dryness, and odor from hormonal imbalance.  I particularly think the Poise Panty Freshener is a wildly clever product.  They are just a simple, discreet way to boost freshness and confidence on-the-go.  I think they’ll be handy for long hikes, camping trips, and to have available for any time I feel self-conscious about a change my body’s going through.

I’m seriously thrilled that companies like Poise are finally openly discussing and developing products to help add alleviate the discomforts and “complications” that menopause can cause.  This transitional period happens to so many, yet there seems to be this invisible caution tape around the subject as well as our changing bodies.

I’m maybe not shouting from the rooftops “yippee I’m perimenopausal!” but I think the more we are open about the subject, the symptoms, the off-kilter effects, and the realities of this life transition,  the more relief we’ll find in the middle and the better balance we will find in the end.

What do you think? Have you started to experience the joys of menopause?  Are you apprehensive about the process? Do you have products or practices that offer you relief?  I’d be delighted if you chimed in on the conversation!

I don’t know if they had these products when I went through menopause but I didn’t know about it if they did. Sounds like it would be helpful.

What a great post… thanks for all the tips and product info from poise; I’m not close to pre-menopause, but I know I will be before I know it and these products will come in very handy at that time. SOO glad it’s not a “Silent” theme anymore. we need to talk about it.. we all will get there sooner or later, so let’s help each other out with tips.. I can’t share any yet, but will gladly take what I hear from you and your readers. Again, THANKS for sharing.

Blech on menopause or perimenopause either! I had hot flashes for two months before they suddenly went away. The cooling gel would have been a welcome relief!

I have been going through menopause for about 5 years–full run of symptoms. My poor, patient husband has been sleeping under heavy quilts year round while I sweat on top of the covers with the ac blasting. I have put on weight. I can barely think straight sometimes. 5 years. The worst part of the ordeal for me is that I was not prepared for it. Every woman I might ask for advice has either had an hysterectomy or used hormone replacement. I did not know that Poise offered a line of products that might help me deal with this. I’ll be trying them.

I don’t think many would be excited to say they are perimenopausal but it will happen to us all eventually. Thanks for making it a topic we can talk about!

Not going to lie, I’m a bit terrified of that phase in my life, but it’s good to know that it’s not so hush-hush any more and that companies like Poise are developing products to help women through it!
