Whole Wheat Banana Chocolate Chip Brownie Bars

I was looking for a way to use up some bananas before they over-ripened, but I’m a little worn out on banana bread or banana muffins (which is what I typically make.)  Lucky for me, ABC’s The Chew featured Mario Batali’s Banana Brownie Bars and I thought to snag the recipe at the time.  Perfect!

I made two swaps to the recipe
1) I used whole wheat all-purpose flour
2) I didn’t have enough chocolate chips on hand, so I added a few M&M’s to the mix

All I can say is “YUM!”  These bars are super delicious!

Mine turned out a little bit fluffier than Mario’s looked (could be the whole wheat swap) but none-the-less, they are excellent.  This recipe is definitively a keeper.
