Children Turning Lemons into Lemonade: Kentucky Tornado Relief Efforts

Two little girls proved to me yesterday that no matter how small you are or how little you have, there is always a way to show your support for those in need.  What a beautiful sight to see in an area that is currently filled with pain.

These two little girls didn’t a lot in their piggy banks, but they did have a great deal of love for their community in their hearts, and so, they accessed the resources they had to raise funds for families affected by the tornado damage.  Selling lemonade by the road-side and sending all their profits to local charity.
Later in the day, I learned that my son’s class is working for donations and funds to help a family in need, too.  His classmate lost her home in the tornado.
In my book, all of these children are heroes and certainly an inspiration to us all!
Maybe you have only a dollar to give or a can of food to spare, but when we combine those dollars, we can help many with much needed resources and when we put those cans of food together, we can feed many.
When life is handing me lemons, I will always think of these two inspiring girls selling lemonade in an effort to make a difference.
And what a difference they make!
Want to make some lemonade with us? Here are the ways you can help:

1) RuralMom.com is sponsoring a food drive to help with immediate needs.

We’ve delivered a 1000 meals and need your help to deliver a 1000 more!  If you would like to make a direct donation to support FOOD SHELF efforts for Menifee and Morgan Counties, please contact ruralmoms AT gmail DOT com .  All money will  be used for food purchase to be delivered directly to shelters.  No amount is too small, when people are hungry, a few dollars can go a long way!

2) Additional donation information, additional drop-off locations, and local volunteer opportunities can be found at http://www.moreheadstate.edu/msucares/
